Triconex Tristation Serial Cable
Triconex Tristation serial cable pinout

Hello,

Does anyone have the Triconex Tristation serial cable pinout? The cable part number is 1600080-0xx.

Thanks,
Mark

You didn't say wither the cable is for an EICM or TCM module.

But a little google searching finds a Planning and Installation Guide for Tricon v9 - v10 Systems:
https://www.nrc.gov/docs/ML0932/ML093290420.pdf

On Pg 284 is the pinout for the TCM RS-232 Serial Cable.
The EICM just has a 25 pin serial connector.

You should have a paper copy that came with your system.

Good luck

Thanks for the response.

It is for the base plate on a Trident. I tried that pin out, a standard null modem cable.
Also tried a few variations. No joy. The latest manual (I have in my paws) actually call out the part number for the cable,

And have this verbiage:

This figure depicts the RS-232 serial cable, which is a standard null-modem cable used to link the serial connector on the MP Baseplate to a PC acting as the Modbus master.

Notice the missing "... or a TriStation PC."

I found an Installation for Trident V2 online;
http://www.infi90.com/Files/Bailey%20Infi90%20Documentation/Triconex/Planning%20and%20Installation%20Guide%20for%20Trident%20v2%20Systems.pdf

Pg 253 has the RS-232 Serial Cable pinout.

Pg 41- The MP baseplate serial Protocols are-Slave, RTU mode, optional parity, 1 stop bit. The MP baseplate Ethernet RJ-45 Protocols are- TriStation 1131

It looks like you have to use a RJ-45 Ethernet cross cable as your Trident to Tristation PC connection. The MP baseplate has 3 Tristation ethernet ports.

In my experience, Ethernet is much better than a serial connection for program monitoring and downloads.

good luck

Thanks for the response.

Same verbiage. That cable is for MODBUS.

>It looks like you have to use a RJ-45 Ethernet cross cable as your Trident to Tristation PC connection.

Other documents recommend using the serial port (on the comm module baseplate) for the first connection to the system. Several reasons.

>In my experience, Ethernet is much better than a serial connection for program monitoring and downloads.

Sure I agree, IF, you know the IP address. If the system has been configured and the IP address is unknown, the only method to connect is the serial port.

Hello,

To finish off the thread.

I was able to use the same cable pinout as an Allen Bradley 1747-CP3/1756-CP3 to communicate with serial port three on a Trident CM3021 using the Tristation software.

Good luck,
Mark
